GPEC5 PCM unlocking for HP Tuners
Spartan Autoworx now offers a dedicated GPEC5 PCM unlocking service for supported applications. Like our other mail-in unlocking services, the goal is simple: unlock your factory engine computer, reinstall that same PCM in the vehicle, and use supported HP Tuners tools for calibration and tuning.
No replacement PCM is included or needed. Because we work with your original PCM, the unlock itself does not require swapping your computer or performing an additional immobilizer pairing procedure. HP Tuners hardware, software, credits and any custom tuning are separate from the unlocking charge.
Important: GPEC5 back-cover removal is required
This is not an OBD-only unlock. The back cover of the GPEC5 ECM must be removed to access the internal electronics and complete the unlocking process. Opening the module may disturb the original factory seal and may leave evidence of the cover having been removed. Please make sure you understand this requirement before sending the PCM.

Unsure whether your ECM is a supported GPEC5? Email the part number and full vehicle VIN before mailing.
Complete our programming request form, package your original PCM securely and mail it to Spartan Autoworx.
We open the back cover, perform the required bench unlock and prepare the original PCM for return.
Reinstall the same PCM in your vehicle. Use your supported HP Tuners setup and tuner for the next steps.
Tuning compatibility
HP Tuners: This service is offered specifically to prepare supported GPEC5 modules for HP Tuners use. Your particular vehicle, controller, hardware and software still need to be supported by HP Tuners.
Other tuning platforms: The unlocked PCM may work with other tuning platforms, but we have not verified or guaranteed that compatibility. Contact us with your PCM part number and intended tuning software if you plan to use something other than HP Tuners.
Unlock only: This $200 service does not include an aftermarket tune, HP Tuners credits or equipment, custom calibration, emissions-related changes, or repair of a damaged PCM.
GPEC5 unlock questions
Is the GPEC5 PCM plug and play when I get it back?
Yes. You are reinstalling the same original PCM in the vehicle. The unlocking process itself does not require a replacement module or a new vehicle-side security programming procedure. Tuning requires compatible software and equipment.
Does the back cover have to come off?
Yes. Physical removal of the GPEC5 ECM back cover is required for this service. The factory enclosure seal may be disturbed by the process.
Can I use software other than HP Tuners?
Possibly, but only HP Tuners is the intended platform for this service. Compatibility with other platforms is not confirmed or guaranteed.
Can you supply a custom tune?
No. We provide the GPEC5 unlock. Actual tuning or calibration changes are performed separately by you or your tuner.
What if I’m not sure I have a GPEC5?
Contact us with the year, make, model, VIN and PCM part number so we can check compatibility before you send it.
